Sleep in Older Adults
Sleep problems are common among older adults. Older adults may have problems falling asleep and remaining asleep or awakening too early in the morning. Normal physiologic changes in sleep architecture, medical conditions, sleep disorders, and lifestyle factors can contribute to a reduction in sleep quality. Dr. Gingras will take a thorough history to determine a cause of whether sleep testing is necessary. Lifestyle changes, treating underlying medical conditions and medications can be helpful treatments for sleep difficulties.
