Snoring

Definition of Snoring

Snoring results from vibrations of your soft palate during breathing in sleep.  It may also be caused by nasal obstruction due to polyps, enlarged adenoid, turbinate enlargement, large tonsils.

Dr. Gingras will take a thorough history and physical exam to determine the causes of your snoring.  She may also schedule an overnight Polysomnogram (PSG) to determine whether Snoring is causing sleep fragmentation or is associated with Obstructive Sleep Apnea.   Snoring is the REG FLAG for Sleep Apnea.

Treatment of Snoring

Treatment depends on the cause of you snoring.  Dr. Gingras will evaluate your history and sleep study and discuss treatment options.
